                        WORK RELEASE RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

           In addition to rules and regulations set forth by the Ottawa County Courts and Probation Departments, the following have been set forth by the Ottawa County Sheriff Office. Some of these rules and regulations are a reminder of the courts rules and regulations for participation in the Work Release Program.

 

 

1.      You will only be able to work 6 consecutive days in a row, unless the court from which you have been sentenced has approved your work schedule for more than the allotted days above. 

 

2.      The hours of release will encompass a 12 hour period. This will include travel time to and from your place of employment. These hours may be extended only if the court from which you have been sentenced has approved of more than the allotted hours as stated above.

 

3.      You will be required to sign in and out each day of work.

 

4.      Only the person/people noted on the WR application will be allowed to transport you to and from your work place. If any additional drivers are needed, advise corrections officer and they will be added to your work release application.

 

5.      Your transportation needs to ring the intercom to advised the corrections staff who they are here to pick up. All inmates will wait in the lobby until their transportation has arrived.

 

6.      WR payment will be made on Fridays and Saturdays.

 

7.      Initial payment will be made prior to any work release. No Exceptions

 

8.      A pay stub or proof of hours and wages will be submitted each Friday and/or Saturday. Exceptions will be made for inmates who receive bi-weekly pay stubs.

 

9.      A corrections officer can also approve any overtime, if overtime has been granted in the original application. Inmate will need verification from employer via phone call and/or letter.

 

10. You are responsible for all medical bills.

 

11. You will go directly to and from your place of employment. You will be allowed to stop for gas, food etc. but no loitering will be allowed at these places. When you have returned from work release, you will come directly into facility. No loitering in vehicles will be allowed.

 

12. If any appointments :  medical, dental ,etc.  are needed while you are released during hours of work release, you  will advise  a corrections officer. Once the appointment has been verified, you will be allowed to keep the appointment. You will bring in verification that you kept the appointment. Courts will be advised of any appointments. 

 

13. You will follow the rules and regulations prescribed by the Ottawa County Sheriffs Office.

 

14. Contraband is not allowed into this facility. 

 

15. Work clothes and lockers must kept clean. Washing machines are available.

 

Any violation of  the above rules and regulations will be grounds for suspension and termination of your work release privileges. Work release is a privilege not a right.
