SHERIFF EXPLORERS

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 6262

Post 6262 is a Co-Ed Post ( Male & Female members) and currently has 12
Active Explorer Members and 10 Advisors, We do the same training that actual
officers do, provided by training instructors. We work with the other Law
Enforcement Departments throughout Ottawa County.

Part of our training includes tours & presentations provided by other Law
Enforcement Departments, including the Highway Patrol, the Coast Guard, FBI,
BCI, Police, Fire Dept., Game Wardens, Underwater Recovery Unit, and other
County Law Enforcement Agencies. Our Post offers a Ride-a-long program, to
help members decide what part of Law Enforcement they want to pursue. We are
an Active post that works years round, doing training, security, and camping,
too.

During the past year, we acquired a Mobile Command Office and we purchased
our own Police Radios, with the support of many Community Groups and
Organizations. Thank you for all the support.

We perform Security Services for numerous functions and organizations around
Ottawa County, from Parades to Festivals. Last year our Post logged almost
1,000 community service hours at some of the following events, The County
Recycling Days, the Walleye Festival, City Parades, Fishing Tournaments, The
Harvest Festival, The County Fair, The Apple Festival, The Rocky Ridge
Community Open House, the Marblehead Community Open House, Mock Disasters,
Hogs by the Lake, a Boy/Girl Scout Camporee - Gibsonburg, Ohio, News Years
Eve Port Clinton, and at a Invitational Scouting Camporee at Put-In-Bay,
South Bass Island.

We do weekend camping and other events as follows. We do Security for &
participate at Scouting Camporees to compete for awards in different areas of
scouting skills. We take a weekend to camp and participate in a COPE Course,
to allow us to develop group dynamics, so we can better function as a group
and as individual members. We strive to develop personal growth, character,
and self worth in all of our members.

This year, our Post is traveling to Atlanta Georgia, to participate in the
Explorer National Law Enforcement Conference, July 19th thru 23rd, with the
help of a Grant from “The United Way Special Project Fund”. A Special Thanks
for the Support of the United Way, serving Lucas, Wood, And Ottawa County’s,
in Port Clinton, and Toledo, Ohio.

If you have a function we can assist you with, please contact us through The
Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Port Clinton, Ohio. We require at least two months notice, so we can arrange our work and other activities around your event.
