Ottawa County Sheriff Receives Speed Laser
On February 6, 2007 the Ottawa County Sheriffs Office was presented a vehicle speed detection LASER by the Ohio Department of Public Safety. The presentation was made by Jim Everett, the Law Enforcement Liaison for the Governors Highway Safety Office in Columbus Ohio. The laser, manufactured by Laser Tech, is valued at $2,800.00.
The Ottawa County Sheriffs Office was selected as one of twenty-four agencies throughout Ohio for participation, education and performance in the ‘Click-It or Ticket’ and ‘You Drink You Drive You Loose’ programs sponsored by the Governors Highway Safety Office. In addition the Sheriffs Office coordinated a multi agency sobriety checkpoint, initiated the C.A.R.E. (Creative Alcohol Related Enforcement) program and promoted a ‘zero tolerance’ for underage drinking.
On March 29th the Ottawa County Sheriffs Office will be one of twenty-four agencies in a drawing to win one of two new 2007 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor police cruisers. That drawing will be held in Columbus, Ohio.
In 2006 the Ottawa County Sheriffs Office was presented a radar unit for a Sheriffs cruiser for participating in the same program.
This year radars were also presented to the following police agencies in Ottawa County: Danbury Township Police Department, Marblehead Police Department, Port Clinton Police Department, Genoa Police Department, the Carroll Township Police Department and the Clay Township Police Department.
