Deputy Dean Hammer
Each year the Kiwanis Club of Port Clinton acknowledges the ‘Deputy of the Year’ with a luncheon and an awards presentation. The selection each year is made by the deputies of the Sheriffs Office.
Deputy Dean Hammer is a lifelong resident of Ottawa County. His career started with the Ottawa County Sheriffs Office on November 13, 1995. Prior to that he worked for the Ottawa County Juvenile Court. His first assignment with this agency was that of a corrections deputy. While serving in that capacity he was reassigned to the Inmate Work Program.
In addition to overseeing the Inmate Work Program Deputy Hammer also has other duties. He is a member of the Ottawa County Sheriffs Office Special Response Team which handles critical incidents, a member of the Ottawa County Sheriffs Office Honor Guard and works many hours each year as part of the Sheriffs Marine Patrol program.
Deputy Hammer is married to Laura and they have three children, Nicholas, Benjamin and Ellen.
