Person Arrested for Making Threats Against Arabian Horse Rescue Group

On Friday, February 19, 2010 a detective from the Ottawa County Sheriffs Office was asked for assistance from the Toledo office of the FBI regarding threats that had been posted on a Facebook page. The page, published by Shaun Harder, age 23 of Elmore, has comments posted towards the Arabian Horse Rescue Group. That group has been involved in the rescue of 36 horses from Carroll Township in Ottawa County at the end of January.

One of the comments posted by Shaun Harder on his Facebook page states the horses need ppl like us; the Arabian rescue group needs to be slaughtered like livestock.’

Shaun Harder has been involved as a volunteer with the rescue of the horses since the night they were removed from the Carroll Township property and housed at the Sandusky County fairgrounds.

At this point it is not clear why Harder posted this comment on his Facebook page.

Shaun Harder has been arrested and charged on Friday, February 26, 2010 with one count of Aggravated Menacing, a misdemeanor of the first degree. His bond is set at $4,000 and if not posted he will appear in the Ottawa County Municipal Court next week.
