Suspect Indicted for Sex Offenses
Raymond E. Taylor, Jr., 34, is facing over one hundred forty counts of sex related offenses, including ten counts of Disseminating Matter Harmful to Juveniles, seventy one counts of Rape, and sixty counts of Sexual Battery. In April, Taylor was indicted on two counts of Rape. Prosecutor Mark Mulligan stated that the additional charges are the result of further investigation by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office and the Ottawa County Department of Job and Family Services, and that the offenses took place over a six year period of time. Some of the offenses, which specify a victim under the age of thirteen, carry a penalty of life imprisonment if convicted.

Other recent indictments include;
-Lucas A. Balduf, 19, and Richard L. Spillman, 18, both of whom are currently being held in the Ottawa County Detention Facility, have each been indicted on two counts of Aggravated Robbery, all felonies of the first degree, after they allegedly attacked and robbed a man earlier this month in Port Clinton. Balduf also faces an additional count of Aggravated Burglary, also a felony of the first degree, for reportedly breaking into a Port Clinton home several days later and assaulting the resident.
-Juan R. Livas, 2102 E. Sand Road, Port Clinton, was indicted on one count of Burglary, a felony of the third degree, and one count each of Theft and Receiving Stolen Property, both felonies of the fifth degree. According to reports of the Marblehead Police Department, Livas, 35, allegedly broke into a Marblehead home last December, taking items valued at over $500.00.
-Dakota T. Young, 18, 2388 Slemmer Portage Road, Oak Harbor, has been charged with three counts of Trafficking in Drugs, all felonies of the fourth degree, along with two felony counts of Drug Possession, and misdemeanor counts of Permitting Drug Abuse and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. According to reports of the Ottawa County Drug Task Force, Young sold drugs while in the vicinity of a juvenile on three occasions last month. He was arrested on May 27, and reportedly found in possession of heroin and oxycodone at the time of his arrest. His indictment also contains a Grand Jury specification for forfeiture of $229.99 is cash found at the time of his arrest.
-Christopher A. Tienarend, 18, 22521 W. State Route 163, Genoa, was indicted on two counts of Aggravated Vehicular Assault, both felonies of the third degree, after he allegedly caused an accident in April that resulted in serious injuries to his two passengers.
-Brenda I. Johnson, 49, and Thomas W. Johnson, 51, both of 5726 W. Lakeshore Drive, Port Clinton, have each been charged with four counts of Failure to Remit Sales Taxes, and three counts of Failure to Remit Employment Taxes, all felonies of the fourth degree. According to records of the Ohio Department of Taxation, the couple, who operates a cleaning business, withheld taxes from their employees from January 1, 2005 through March 31, 2008, but failed to remit the same to the State. Both are also charged with one felony count of Theft for retaining the funds.
-Jenapher L. Parks, 24, Toledo, was indicted on two counts of Aggravated Vehicular Assault, a felony of the third degree and a felony of the fourth degree, after she allegedly caused a one car accident earlier this month that resulted in serious injuries to her passenger.
-Eric T. Recard, 38, whose last known address is Sandusky, has been indicted on one count of Theft, a misdemeanor of the first degree, and one count of Tampering with Evidence, a felony of the third degree, after he allegedly stole merchandise from a Port Clinton business, then failed to stop when confronted by employees.
-William D. Saylor, 40, who is currently being held in the Ottawa County Detention Facility, was charged with one count each of Breaking and Entering and Theft, both felonies of the fifth degree, after he allegedly entered a Catawba Island Township business on June 23 and took over $500.00 worth of items.
Warrants have been issued for Balduf, Spillman, Recard, Saylor, and Taylor. All others have been scheduled to make their initial appearances in the Ottawa County Court of Common Pleas on July 24, 2008.
Prosecutor Mark Mulligan noted that an indictment is merely a formal charge in the Common Pleas Court, and does not denote guilt or innocence.
