Drug Task Force Seizes Marijuana Plants

On May 13, 2009, agents from the Ottawa County Drug Task Force and an Ottawa County Sheriffs deputy seized 105 marijuana plants in Portage Township. The Drug Task Force received information from an anonymous source about the location of an outdoor marijuana plot. The plot was located near State Road and the State Route 2 overpass. The plants were in the early growth stages and were protected by wire mesh to prevent animals from eating the plants. The estimated seizure amount is $1,000 per plant. The seized plants had been well taken care of and would have likely produced more than 1 pound of processed marijuana per plant. The Task Force also found remnants of a grow area from the previous year.

The Drug Task Force is seeking any information regarding the responsible grower. If you have information you may call the Ottawa County Drug Task Force at 1-800-299-5707 or the Ottawa County Sheriffs Office at 419-734-4404. Callers may remain anonymous.
