Sheriff Robert Bratton is pleased to announce the following promotion and appointment of new deputies.
On Friday, May 25, 2007 interviews were conducted for the detective position recently approved by the Ottawa County Commissioners. The selection committee unanimously recommended that Deputy Amy Harrell be promoted to the Detective Bureau. Sheriff Bratton accepted the recommendation of the committee and informed Deputy Harrell of her promotion this afternoon.
Deputy Harrell began her career with the Ottawa County Sheriffs Office in 1993 as a Reserve Deputy and part-time dispatcher. In June of 2000 she was promoted to the Patrol Division where she has been assigned since that time. Deputy Harrell has attended the University of Toledo where she earned her Associate Degree in Law Enforcement, her Ohio Peace Officer Certificate and she is currently five classes away from completing her Bachelors Degree in Administrative Services.
Sheriff Bratton, Chief Deputy Riedmaier and Captain Levorchick are confident Deputy Harrell is well qualified and will do an excellent job in her new assignment.

Last week interviews were also conducted for two open positions in the corrections division. The other position was created by the resignation of Deputy Brandon Taylor who was recently hired as a patrolman with the Danbury Township Police Department.
The first appointment to the Corrections Division is Mr. Jody Royster. He will begin his employment with the Ottawa County Sheriffs Office on June 18th. Mr. Royster has served many years as a probation officer in the Ottawa County Municipal Court.
The second appointment to the Corrections Division is Mr. Curtis Cochran. He will begin his employment with the Sheriffs Office on June 19th. Mr. Cochran has most recently been employed as a part time officer with the Republic Police Department.
