Sheriff Bratton Receives the Keith Dressel Law Enforcement Officer of the year Award

    On Wednesday, May 13, 2009 Ottawa County Sheriff Robert L. Bratton was awarded the Detective Keith Dressel Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award. This presentation took place at the yearly Law Enforcement Appreciation Night of the American Society for Industrial Security, Toledo Chapter, held at the Pinnacle in Maumee, Ohio.

    Sheriff Bratton was nominated for this award by Captain Steve Levorchick of the Ottawa County Sheriffs Office.

    Sheriff Bratton has 35 years in the law enforcement profession. His career began in 1973 with the Sylvania Township Police Department, then with the Lucas County Sheriffs Office, before serving 15 years with the Northwood Police Department. Sheriff Bratton has been with the Ottawa County Sheriffs Office for the past 16 years, starting at the rank of Lieutenant, Captain and then Chief Deputy before being elected Sheriff five years ago.

    Captain Levorchick, in his nomination wrote "Sheriff Bratton is a true leader in the law enforcement profession. He has proven that he stands up for what he feels is right. He leads the Ottawa County Sheriffs Office by example and is often the first to arrive in the morning and the last to leave at the end of the day." Levorchick added "I am sure everyone has seen Sheriff Bratton on the news for one event or another. But most people do not realize that the statements made by Sheriff Bratton and the stands he has taken are truly from his heart. I can honestly say that Sheriff Bratton is the boss that every employee wants and the deputies of the Ottawa County Sheriffs Office are lucky to have."

    In recognition of his years of service, dedication and leadership Sheriff Bratton was presented the Detective Keith Dressel Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award. The award was presented by Kip Klewer, the Toledo Chapter Chairperson of the American Society for Industrial Security, and Danielle Dressel, wife of Toledo Police Detective Keith Dressel.
